Bunaken Marine National Park was established as a marine park in 1991. It has 89,065 ha and consists of two separate parts.

Bunaken island have two populer beach names. One of them is Liang Beach and another is Pangalisang Beach. The location of Bunaken Kuskus Resort (BKR) is in Pangalisang beach. Where you could see the Great Sunrise in Bunaken Island.

The Northern section of National Park is composed of (Bunaken, Manado Tua, Siladen, Nain and Mantehage)

The Southern mainland section constitutes the Arakan wawontulap coast, which was set aside to protect its old growth Mangrove forests and dugong and turtle populations.

The Bunaken Marine National Park is known worldwide for it’s fantastic reefs and mangroves. And it is situated in the very epicenter of global marine biodiversity.

Within the Marine Park both the shallow reef flats and the coral and sponge-encrusted steep walls are inhabited by a very rich variety of underwater marine life. More than 2000 species of fishes, 58 genera and sub-genera of hard corals and 30 species of mangrove have been identified in the park

In addition, a variety of unusual fishes such as ghost pipefishes, froghfish and pygmy seahorses. The park is home to a number of endangered species such as coelacanths, dugongs, orcas and sperm whales. You could find all of this in Bunaken National Park, especially the sea around Bunaken Island, Siladen Island and Mantehage Island where Bunaken Kuskus Resort facing to those island.
